Code E.G.G. (the arrival)
It's 2am do you know where your chicks are????? They are at the dag gum post office! That's right, the phone rings at 2am "Hello this is the Post Office we have your birds". I was like awake in seconds. WHAT the Post Office calls at 2am? I become VERY awake. Did they say come get them? I hop out of bed grab the phone and go into the kitchen. I redial the number that called us. Yes, now.. Uhhh what Post Office is open at 2am I am thinking as the man is talking. I am to come behind the loading dock, park... walk to a black phone... pick it up.. the man will answer and then will come out with the goods!! How is that for CODE CHICKEN??? it is only fitting that they arrive under the cover of darkness. I follow the instructions to a T. I had drove the truck because I thought maybe 25 chickens (chicks) would have a big box that I may need to put them in the extended cab portion of the truck. After picking up the "black phone" the man appears with the box. It is box the size of a bread box or smaller!! I laugh as I hear a chorus of peeps coming out of it!! Ok girls (they ARE supposed to be all female) let's go home! All the way home PEEP PEEP PEEP. It gives more meaning to those marshmellow candy you get at Easter. As I pull onto our street I start thinking... I need newspaper, lots of it. I pull past a house on our street WHAT LUCK they have their recycling bin out FULL of newspaper. Happy Day! It will be recycled. I do not believe I was caught. I get home and unpack the chic starter kit that came several days ago. Who would of guessed the chics would come at 2am? I get everything set up in the schoolroom as I do not want the dogs barking at them. The box is all ready... I open the box......OH MY GOODNESS there is not enough adjectives to describe how dag gum cute they are. I gently lift as I count them all --26! No casualties. Whewwww! I can't wait to see the look on Abby's face when she sees them.

Are they all the same color?
What color are they?
What makes you think that Matt is not going to like them too?
What do they eat?

They are yellowish/red. Here is a link to some but ours look much smaller. I believe they shipped at a day old.

Mom said, "That was clever writing it like that". I said "Mom It happened just like that"!!! Including the black phone! I could of embellished it a bit and said the guy who gave me the chicks was in a trench coat but he was in Navy blue overalls.

Just fantastic, I was at tractor supply today and it was all I could do not to buy some baby chicks.
Glad to hear they came in, in good health.
