Butterfly baths

We are continuing on with insects.  Thursday we will be on a Bug Scavenger Hunt with the "MOST WANTED" bugs.  We will talk about good/bad insects in the garden and what we can do to bring in the good, deterring the bad.  This is a FAST and EASY project that will go in the butterfly garden.
Butterflies like shallow water.  This can be sunk down into your garden at soil level and filled with WATER.  The other thing you can do to bring your butterflies in is to use the dish to put fresh banana, watermelon or orange on.  They will love having their own all you can eat fruit bowl!!
Once again Dollar Tree rocks! DT
Candle dish or Terra cotta lid
small glass ornaments, marbles, polished rocks
Silicone Glue
Dab glue on in dots add the decorations as you like.

Those are very beautiful dishes, with or without butterflies.
So, are butterflies good or bad insects?
They used to be caterpillars, right?

Trickster!  Yes in larva form they can be destructive as they can mow down some plants in a heartbeat...BUT in adult form they are important pollinators.  They are so beautiful, I will share the parsley in my garden!

I love this. We are in a new house and I am in the process of creating a butterfly garden. I am definitely moving by bird bath to the garden area and decorating it will some glass beads I already have. I can't wait to get my sanctuary finished.
