Self-serve Blueberries and Mayhaws???

So while on the road I call my Mom, I ask her to look up blueberry picking in South Georgia.  I think she must think I am kidding because she ignores me... (or maybe she was having a pottery session)? LOL who knows?? I am driving along and just barely I can read a sign that says upick blueberries.  I shout a cheer to Abby!!  Next Exit!!!  It is a mile off the exit onto a short dirty sandy road.  I pull in.... hello?? No one home?   There sits a table with this sign....  Ok kids start picking.  I see a sign that says Mayhaws behind the frog pond?  I am like uhh what is a mayhaw.  I hike behind the frog pond (thinking great if we see a cottonmouth the kids will never come picking with me again)!!  I do not see any mayhaws  (but I would not know a Mayhaw if it hit me in the head)!!!  I keep picking blueberries and blackberries.  This old man shows up...   (I think to myself good luck fella)he goes behind  the pond and comes back with a basket full of mayhaws?????!!!!! LOL  All in all we had a good time.  1.00 a pint!!  yipppeeee

Mayhaws? That's strange! They are all ripe in April. So why May?

Trust me the ones in the bucket where ripe.  I tasted one from the old man that brought that bucket up.  It tasted like a berry with applesauce.  It was seedy.
