Not so Farmer Rena

This year I finally (thanks to my brother Jason) had a bumper crop of carrots.  I really wanted to be able to have Matthew pull up a carrot wash it off in the hose and eat it in the garden.  Check -- Mission accomplished.  So what then??... that is a lotta carrots that need put somewhere.  It appears I am not so farmerish.  I am trying -but heck it is very hard!  I can see why farming is a dying breed.  It is such work!  Obviously I love to grow things.  My personality does not allow me to just grow a tiny bit of this or that, nope no sir.... I have to grow 130 plus heads of garlic, 9 types of bush beans, normally 100 or so varieties of tomatoes , 35 or so varieties of peppers, 10 varieties of basil,  7 or so varieties of cukes, 3 peach trees, 2 types of corn, 4 or so varieties of eggplant, 5 okra.... you get the picture.  It all seems so fun until........ you are looking at 20 bushels of collards wondering why you needed to grow so many?   The guilt starts to seep in, people are starving in some countries so you start to think I should can/dry/freeze this!  Don't get me wrong last year I took stuff to the food bank.  Today I made a HUGE and I mean Huge pot of carrot bisque.  I think that was pretty daring considering I have never eaten carrot bisque.  I love tomato bisque so what the heck?  It turned out delish and the remainder is safely put in the freezer for 3 more meals.
