Happy Dance!!
Well --- ----that my friends is a pic of cold river water running into a doggie waterer!! I had to locate the spousal units drill (he hides tools from me) and then I drilled a hole in the top of the waterer, set it to a timer and bam... IT WORKS (she sings and dances)!!! This was after 4 trips to Lowes, some swearing, and about 50 chigger bites (ok well maybe not 50 but more then 20 less then 35)!!!
The other pic is of the area that I have been climbing into. Let me just set the record straight. I DO not have a snake phobia. I am just realistic (after seeing many a snake down at our dock) that there could be a big snake lurking. In the west we have rattle snakes and well they like to warn you. Here Cottonmouths, they just bite. Living on the water and having young children will also make you a little more cautious. For years I have been scaring them away from the water (until they could swim well) by telling them about the horrible snakes down there. Just when they started getting a little brave and wanting to go to the dock we witnessed a big Cottonmouth swim under the dock. Mission accomplished, scared their little pants off from wanting to go down there again. So.... will my children need therapy because I scared them so bad about snakes?? Probably.. but they will be alive to attend

The Corp of Engineers just called. They want to know who's responsible for the drop in water level. They were also a bit curious where all the happy clucking was coming from.
Does the pump stay off if there is plenty of water? Or do you just keep pumping until the chickens drown?
Congrats! Nice job!

I put it on a timer. I hope there is some happy clucking.. I know that there is some scratching going on and it is not the chickens

Very impressive feat of hydraulic engineering.
You can advertise your chickens as free-range and river-fed

Not only are you tenacious but quite funny. Your blog makes me chuckle when I've had a stressful day of motherhood bliss. Good for you.
