Some Souvenir!

We had our Friday field trip early.  I promise this will be my last post about chickens for a few days anyway..  I needed to fill the incubator because I just did!  It should be filled to capacity to save the environment right?  You know not waste electricity.  I needed fertile eggs.  I knew of a woman near Newnan Georgia that had some for sale.  That is an hour or so from our house.  We packed up our baskets of snacks and hit the road.
These people had chickens, and turkeys, and rabbits and ducks and goats and (you get the picture)??  Abby was just so mad at me that I would not let her take home a goat.  UHHH how am I going to explain that ?  We were picking up the eggs when we noted some of her baby chicks.. one was not like the others.  It looked like  a chipmunk.  The woman said that all the chicks were sold except that one, they did not want her.  Abby gave me that look I knew what she was thinking... I asked what kind was she.. An easter egger, an Americana they lay pink, blue and green eggs!  She came from a pink egg.... sooooooo I mumbled yes mumbled.. we will take her.  I can hear my husband now.. WHAaaaaat???  Sooo Abby got a living souvenir!  A baby chick.    While we were there the lady picks up a duck egg and hands it to me, you might as well stick it in the incubator.  UHHH wait till we explain that our new duck needs to swim in the pool... When we got in the car it was really quiet and then Abby goes, "Dad is going to kill you when he finds out we have a new chick and a duck"!  sigh......
